During the opening number of Sunday’s Oscars, Jack Black portrayed superheroes as a blight on the industry, singing: “Opening with lots of zeroes, all we get are superheroes: Spider-Man, Superman, Batman, Jedi Man, Sequel Man, Prequel Man, formulaic scripts!”
Opinion:
Anyone that thinks the Marvel films aren't great pieces of work sadly isn't informed enough to render a technical opinion on movies.
Why not criticise something that's insultingly stupid, like Fifty Shades or The Fault in Our Stars? As for indie films, I can never get on board with them. They're not films for me, they feel more like they should go straight to television. Watching a movie, for me, should be a significant experience; when I watch a pretentious indie film it just feels like watching television. Bad television, mostly.
