The bench from “The Fault in Our Stars” might have disappeared from its original location in Amsterdam, but with thanks to Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, now we have our very own version right here in the States.
And if we ever need a new place to sit and cry over the ending of “The Fault in Our Stars,” e.
g. because we’ve gotten tired of doing it curled up in a ball on the floor of our coat closet, this perfect replica of the seat where Hazel and Gus perched and smooched by the canal seems like an ideal venue.
The bench is a new addition to the Fox Studios lot, and it’s even been christened by the butts of the film’s stars, who were reunited on November 20 for the unveiling. John Green (author of TFiOS) and Josh Boone (director) were also present, along with a half dozen other members of the production team.
Also, because no “The Fault in Our Stars” related event would be complete without a moment at which our hearts were forcibly ripped from our chests, Shailene and Ansel sat on the bench and did the thing.
You know. The she-puts-her-legs-on-his-legs-and-they-cuddle thing.
If anyone needs us, we’ll be in the coat closet, ugly crying in a fort made of parkas.
