A filmmaker can have all the production value in the world, but it's not worth a damn if your actors think they're starring in a high school play. That's exactly what seems to be happening in this trailer for Outcast from Arclight Films.
In the film Nicolas Cage and Hayden Christensen are thrown back into 12th century China, which is already a hilarious premise in itself, as ex-Crusades warriors who team up to help the children of a deposed Chinese Emperor battle their murderous uncle.
Honestly, despite how pretty this film looks, Cage and Christensen make it look laughably bad, especially with whatever accents they're poorly trying to pull off (Cage saying "lad" puts it over the top). But for that reason, it ay be worth seeing. Watch! Here's the first trailer for Nick Powell's Outcast from Deadline:
Ancient China - Princess Lian and her younger brother, Zhao, flee for their lives when their father, the Emperor, is murdered by his ambitious eldest son Shing. Pursued by Shing's black guards, the royal runaways find protection in Arken, a hardened knight seeking redemption from the nightmares of the Crusades as he searches for his former friend and mentor, Gallain, now a notorious bandit on the silk road. The two must put aside their differences and once again fight side by side in an epic and unwinnable battle against Shing and his forces. Stuntman Nick Powell (Resident Evil: Retribution) makes his directorial debut with Outcast, and the film seems to have a release date next year on February 27th, 2015.
